Learn to be an antiracist
Learn and explore new ways of thinking about racism, antiracism, and what it means to be an antiracist.
Through three “core” sessions that are open to all District 65 and Evanston community members, we will explore the kinds of nuanced and not-often considered racist and antiracist ideas presented in the book How to be an Antiracist. Through this exploration, we will develop a new lens to examine our own ideas and behaviors and then examine and course-correct what we model and teach our children. This new lens will also be applied to PTA, school, and district policies and practices.
Check out our calendar for details about the sessions.

ACT TOGETHER FOR CHANGE
An opportunity to act and connect with your school community to create change.
Each of the three core sessions will be followed by a session where concepts like ‘there is no such thing as not-racist policies, only racist and antiracist policies’ can be applied to school’s policies and practices. Participants will leave the first ACT sessions with an antiracist action plan focused on a policy or practice of their choosing. ACT sessions two and three will be opportunities to plan for implementation and sustainability as well as troubleshoot. Systems for cross-school collaboration will be provided.
